Gentiana

Our Asiatic collection can be seen in flower from mid August onwards, why not pre-arrange a group visit in mid September and see the profusion of blue trumpets in every hue imaginable including a small number of white flowering forms. This is one of the most attractive plants and will flourish in acid soil on a moist but well drained site.
Spring and summer flowering species will grow happily in the rockery, trough or container. Gentiana verna and its relatives are small, showy and will tolerate a degree of lime. Gentiana acaulis types with their large white or deep blue fluted trumpets need a little more space as they can make fairly large mats, these are best split up every few years to encourage flowering. Summer flowering species grow well in the garden and are usually raised from seed these include Gentiana septemfida, G. Olga's Pale, G. asclepiadea and G. paradoxa.
Mail Order only from September to the end of March.
